Glastonbury 2010 headliner: Coldplay, Kylie Minogue or Rolling Stones to replace U2?

Glastonbury festival-goers have been speculating about who should replace U2 at this year's festival, after the Irish band pulled out today (May 25) following a back injury sustained by frontman Bono last week (21).

Fans writing in response to the news on the NME Festival Blog have been speculating as to who will replace the band for their headline slot on the Pyramid Stage on June 25, with Coldplay and Kylie Minogue seemingly early favourites.

NME.COM user Lizzie wrote: "Realistically I think Coldplay. Otherwise perhaps Kasabian, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith... there's a few possibilities."

Another user, CONglamourART, thought that Kylie Minogue – who was due to play the festival in 2005 before pulling out due to her cancer treatment – is another strong possibility.

"It makes sense for Eavis to invite Kylie back to headline," they wrote. "This time without cancer, but with an amazing new album."

Meanwhile, users on NME's Facebook page have also been speculating, with The Rolling Stones being touted by some as well as Led Zeppelin, despite Robert Plant repeatedly denying they will play together again.

"Ideally? Led Zep. Realistically? Stones or Bowie," wrote Mike Eccleshall, while Paul Green plumped for either Coldplay or a Noel Gallagher solo set, writing: "Noel Gallagher - expect Coldplay will step in tho - with them swapping next years headline slot with U2 returning for 2011."
